Maybe adding a bunch more content, tweak some of the main events/timeline (there's literally no reason to skip 3-5 days at a time) and some narration to bring the story alive and it could be great.

Particularly the changing graphics of the city during mission movement are a well-made and shocking reminder of the destruction that was wrought upon the city of Warsaw.

The character design is well done to the point that it is tough for me to let the characters die in this game unlike in Darkest Dungeon where I'd gladly throw new recruits to the grinder.

That is not true, it is not a visual novel, the new version added cutscenes, voice acting, and it made the experience so much richer.
