What immediately sets TAA apart from other JRPGs is actually not its gameplay, but how it goes about telling its story.
There are guilds, which can be used for a myriad of purposes from crafting gear to unlocking new spells to debuffing enemies/buffing you, to additional damage in battle, which adds a bit of flavor to replayability.
While the combat here does take a more traditional turn-based approach, it also provides some cool additions to that usual formula.
The 3D models look great for the most part, but when you look at textures on the field or on buildings and such, it just looks bad by comparison.
The OST by Masashi Hamauzu gave me strong FFX vibes, and considering that's my favorite OST of all time, I had high hopes.
Plus, there are even playable characters with animal ears and tail, so I couldn’t resist.
