Metal: Hellsinger delivers a uniquely addictive fusion of rhythm and first-person shooter mechanics.
The voice acting is actually really solid and carries the story well.
The game also does become repetitive after a while — especially since the story, while solid and steadily improving level by level, isn’t strong enough to completely mask the repetitive loop.
Every shot, dash, and slash syncing perfectly with heavy metal beats creates a combat flow that’s immersive and satisfying.
And yet I still was able to score at least 10 million points on normal difficulty on every level in the game and feel amazing doing it.
To give credit where it’s due, the game has a very nice art style, and the writing (which is mostly narration) is pretty good.
