What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The exploration sections were a pleasant surprise, and the campaign kept getting better as we progressed.
Now to the multiplayer part it has the best goodies minus the sawed-off that was by far the best way to stand still and kill that sweaty wallbouncer that thinks the gnasher is the only weapon in the game, it's still broken if you are wondering and due to the nature of the arenas it was bound to be since the first game came out.
Melee combat feels slightly improved, there are new weapons to play with, and JACK becomes an active companion with upgradeable abilities that can significantly shift combat dynamics.
For us, that says a lot: despite its flaws, *Gears 5* turned into a surprisingly fun co-op adventure and a very worthwhile first introduction to the series.
The lighting, texture quality are excellent, utilizing Unreal Engine properly for graphics and peformance.
Beat the game on insane difficulty with a friend, but was a nice hard slog fest that felt like in every which way.
