Many sidequests, party members, secrets, enemies, twists and turns in the story, even a unique element system and potion-making!
The combat mechanics in HorrorVale aren't anything revolutionary, but they are more than serviceable: an element system, not unlike Pokemon's types, gives things a bit of depth, meshing well with the large amount of skills at your disposal given the plethora of available party members.
Classmates, bounty hunters, wanted criminals, eldritch abominations - you'll be hard pressed to get through the game without finding at least a couple party members you grow to love, and with about 30 of them in total, there is a lot of room for experimentation in combat.
I need to save up some money to buy the game for someone else (and buy the soundtrack for myself, that whole thing slaps!) Again, I'm sad I don't have any more of it to play right now, though the dev is working on a DLC featuring Mothman, which I'm excited for.
Really good difficulty curve; it made me actually do more quests before continuing with the story so I could get strong enough to actually beat the bosses, lol.
You would think a game with over 30 playable characters would fall flat here and there, but everyone is just very likable.
