What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
From the opening presentation cold open narration into a banging title screen soundtrack sets the tone for this wonderful game.
Stunning visuals, great music, a compelling story with a deeper meaning, and most importantly of all, fun gameplay.
Graphics: Saccharine hyper-spastic club acid aesthetics in the style of temu Lisa Frank, with bonus Tarot Cards for extra Wicca with a dash of Satanic final boss.
Sayonara Wild Hearts is a music/rhythm game that guides you through a beautiful, surreal world of broken hearts and characters representing Tarot’s major arcana, where you chase baddies, collect pickups, avoid obstacles and try to bring back harmony through being a longboard badass with a good sense of rhythm.
Visuals and music are readily apparently but it's actually just fun as hell and satisfying on the controller, and some levels stick out in design as fun enough to want to do multiple times with the excuse of "100%ing".
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
