What players think

I can't speak to longterm balance and replayability, but in 8 hours, it seems good.
The story is good, the visuals are cute and appealing, and I like the little tidbits of Isaac's life dropped here and there; but the actual game part is terribly generic, repetitive, and often laughably broken .
Gameplay is unique and interesting, music and aesthetics are perfect, and Isaac fans are going to love the overall story.
Each character is varied enough to force you to think differently about how you will approach clearing a room, for example Bum-bo the Weird will gain an extra move for every enemy he kills, whereas Bum-bo the Stout gains more mana but loses all of it after his turn is over.
The combat is fun, the spells are cool, and the characters are cleverly designed.
The soundtrack is incredible, both the new stuff and the remixes of old Isaac tunes; and the narrator sounds like he's having the time of his life.
