What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Story and characters are sweet, puzzles were satisfying, but not too hard, graphics are nicely hand-drawn, music is equally fitting as well.
I have to admit that seeing these classic strategy/builder mechanics in an adventure/exploration-like game indeed felt kind of fresh to me.
I was immediately enamored with the art style, soundtrack, and puzzle piece-ish gameplay.
However, Carto is a completely different case: it has the exact level of depth and difficulty I was looking for with an unusual game mechanic - and on top of that a genuinely heartwarming storyline.
Accompanied by a soothing soundtrack that uses melodic instruments and environmental sounds to evoke tranquility, the game fosters an atmosphere of calm exploration.
