The story moves forward with a constant, unbreaking momentum, with no detours, no real backtracking and a sense that you are being asked to not spend too much time admiring the lovely art that has been created for this game.
Without getting too repetitive or into the weeds, the visuals, effects, and even camera angles are phenomenal.
Amanita Design are masters of environmental storytelling and visual narrative, and their soundtracks and overall sound design have a very unique and special personality that makes their creations instantly recognizable.
On the gameplay side of things, I think it's also one of their most well-rounded games.
Not all of them are equally challenging, but I enjoyed every single one: some for their difficulty, others for their fun mechanics, and others simply for their delightful animations.
In Machinarium, I feel part of the appeal was being able to go to multiple key areas at once, getting multiple inventory items at once, and figuring out the order of what goes where, and when.
