The new 4K graphics by Lemon Sky Studios are great and, in general, should be the gold standard for how to do remastered graphics.
As the grandfather of the RTS genre, the core gameplay is simplistic and lacks many of the core elements and depth found in later games, but Petroglyph has done a great job modernizing the controls to make the games more player-friendly.
The gameplay is still fun, the remaster looks great, and the soundtrack remains dangerously effective at making bad decisions feel heroic.
It makes the multiplayer balance patch that destroyed the campaign balance in Command & Conquer 3 seem more like a fair challenge in comparison.
I insist you give the campaign to Red alert a try. it is very challenging and the skirmishes are where the game really shines. getting a few friends together to wage war on each-other can make or break friendships and make enjoyable moments for anyone willing to give it a try. 10/10 recommend.
