Story: The characters are quite memorable, and the story progresses to have you learn more about all of them.
I have enjoyed series which use unique, challenging mechanics and interesting / fun stories such as Octopath Traveler and Mario RPG rather than others a majority probably likes more such as Final Fantasy series as a whole.
The most interesting aspect of the game is the combat and the character building systems.
To start off I'd like to mention that while I enjoyed the retro-like yet high-detailed pixelated graphics, I do have some mixed feelings about the UI though.
If you try to learn everything naturally and don't farm crystals; just focus on the best build at all times, the difficulty curve is very satisfying.
I do like the animations of the skills which blend in well with the sound effects!
