A handy mechanic, sure, for those who struggle or may flame on the game and just make it easier to complete certain steps.
With over a dozen class types, 20+ weapons/talents/spells, and a huge roster of relics and character traits, there's a lot of ways each run can play out and force you to adapt to the hand you're dealt.
Excellent game, featuring a rather interesting heir system, where your consecutive tries at conquering the castle are followed by additional quirky traits (which are mostly harmless and are intriguing, most of the time) and diverse pool of classes, weapons, talents and spells.
Between runs they can give you little bits of dialogue to add depth, and there's more of them.
There's a good variety of enemies & the game overall follows a rather steady difficulty curve, with only the fifth of the currently available biomes offering a serious jump in (platforming related) difficulty.
The 2.5D graphics are expressive and readable, and allow some striking lighting effects from time to time.
