Because if you look past the rough edges it is a fun exploration puzzle game.
I highly recommend gecko gods, the graphics are comforting, its very cozy and relaxing.
The game is simple in terms of sound design, but sometimes simple is all a game needs, and I quite enjoyed listening to the little pitter patter of my gecko feet as I skittered around eating bugs and solving puzzles - the small touches of your footsteps changing on sand or rustling longer grass as you move through it are nice.
The overall vibe is very positive and the pieces of the supporting story lend a mysterious underpinning that glows.
Incredibly cute, fun to roam around, and a good mix of difficulty without feeling too irritating.
Quick disclaimer: I HIGHLY recommend this game to be played with controller.
