What players think
The recurring themes across 56 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The worldbuilding is good and the cast of characters is mostly enjoyable, but everything else is so "safe." Combat is cookie cutter Rock Paper Scissor and shuffling through 8 characters to find the combination of damage types to move forward.
The battle system is decent and is definitely better than most games from the SNES era and modern retro games trying to do SNES style turn based combat.
There were interesting twists in the plot and it had a satisfying level of complexity while exploring political themes that resonate with the real world.
Hate to leave a negative review because I adore pixel graphics, SNES-era JRPGs and indie devs.
The environments and levels are all clearly designed with care and the accompanying soundtrack is quite moving.
