What players think
The recurring themes across 239 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
There are many things this game does absolutely wonderfully and it's really special, but Chronicle mode it forces you to play is a time-consuming abomination with a nonsense RNG-based progression system antithetical to what makes shmups fun.
Angel at Dusk laughs in the face of hyper-realistic graphics and dumbed-down difficulty, with what appear to be vector images of sexualized eldritch crab people barraging the player with bone covered hot-dogs, as midi-programmed thrash metal drives the pulse of our "angel" as she tries to maneuver and shield against the hot dogs and flim-flams targeted her way.
Moreover, the gameplay graphics and other illustrations are fascinating, while the soundtrack is absolutely mesmerizing!
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
