What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
It's still Shovel Knight, but far more vibrant and somehow simple for this type of gameplay.
Compared to the older Shovel Knight games, there are new characters, new enemies, new abilities, and a cute story that gives a few more details about Shovel Knight and Shield Knight's history together.
The graphics are more 32-bit Sega Saturn-y this time around in style than 8-bit like Treasure Trove which is, again, like the music, an upgrade in my opinion.
Sound effects reinforce combat impact and environmental interaction, helping strengthen immersion throughout lengthy play sessions.
The levels themselves are fun to play through, hiding secret treasures, weapons, and even pets in every nook and cranny.
