Specifically, Castlevania 1, except with frequent checkpoints and infinite lives so it is signficantly easier.
Difficulty
Players who bring up Difficulty mostly praise it.
14 of 74 sampled reviews raised it
It's definitely fun in parts, and it thankfully doesn't duplicate the unforgiving difficulty of the earlier 'Castlevanias.'
Combat

6 of 74 sampled reviews raised it
It’s awesome, really the only two things it doesn’t have are sub weapons and the ability to hold down the attack button and swing the whip around.
