Yes, it's quite entertaing, at least until the time when you killed last boss, but if you want to gain all achievements be prepared for extra grind (which for me was like 4-5 hours of just dying and collecting pieces of meat - it was super annoying).
The sense of progression, combat, and exploration all feel very akin to Rogue Legacy, but Dwarf Journey is a relatively lighter, easier, shorter, and less deep game than Legacy.
The second boss is a massive step up in terms of difficulty.
While many so-called retro games found on Steam Store are lousy caricatures committed with the lowest of efforts, Dwarf Journey stands out from the crowd by serving cosy visuals gracefully mixing stylistics of back then with a tint of modernity.
