Cutscenes also need a higher budget and maybe a few more animators for the next game as well, as most of the early story- like super important lore stuff- is only shown as pixelated hand-drawn slideshows on a tiny CRT monitor in the middle of the screen, with text that doesn't speed up if you hold the button.
Spark the Electric Jester 3 serves as the pinnacle of the series, concluding an indie trilogy with strong gameplay that greatly improves upon the foundations of the previous games.
The soundtrack is largely focused on rock for this game, with a healthy mix of techno and softer sounds for more somber scenes.
The visuals are greatly improved from the previous game; bloom has been greatly reduced and each area features huge skylines and set pieces that sell the theme of the area.
