Complementing the visuals is a moody, electronic soundtrack that enhances the sense of scale and tension, particularly during boss encounters.
At its core, G-Darius HD delivers traditional side-scrolling shoot-’em-up action, but with a number of mechanics that set it apart from more straightforward genre entries.
Darius Gaiden stays my favourite due to better aged visuals and not having very long boss fights, but I can't be too harsh on G-Darius; even if I couldn't enjoy it fully, I can appreciate a level of quality it hasn't lost almost three decades after it was made.
