What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The characters, the story, the gameplay, the art style- all of it remained pleasing, interesting, and fun all throughout the 30 hours it took to beat the game.
This is a very bold thing to do in game design, to intentionally annoy and frustrate your players, but the narrative payoff is huge, and there are just enough new and interesting events/dialogues to keep you striving through the grind to the tiny thing you need to progress.
From a more technical point of view, the combat system is very nice and easy to learn, the world-building is really intriguing, the storytelling is effective and engaging, and the graphic style is amazing.
All OST was so efficient, invoked so many feelings - and I cried and sobbed twice in the end.
The thing I especially liked was character design - Siffrin goes straight to top 5 fictional chacters, and the others are also great.
It's got great music, unique visuals, a fun premise that I've seen done well in other stories...
