What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
There's no voice acting, but the written dialogue works well enough and the story is interesting.
This is not so much a horror game where there are scares and a bunch of creatures to fight, but it builds great tension, lays a gripping story foundation and takes you back to the days of the OG SH.
The low-poly models and low-res textures are just beautiful to look at and it's so nice to experience this kind of old-school game at a high frame rate.
Lake Haven has a great atmosphere that elevates the horror and the sound design is likewise great.
Controls are simple and responsive, the inventory is easy and fairly fast to navigate.
I've been playing on a Steam Deck and have encountered no issues.
