I really like this genre, and I like slow paced games that allow you to gradually discover new places and rifle through drawers and cabinets looking for secrets while a story builds around you.
There is constant stuttering when traversing the world which seems related to dynamically loading assets and not intensive graphics.
I found that element of the gameplay satisfying and useful for keeping track of the numerous bits and pieces of storyline that you discover as you explore.

Thalassa has a fun system in which discovered "clues" are added to a sort of inventory and can be combined to solve "mysteries" on an inquiry map.
