Even if you were to strip all of that away, Labyrinth is still a game with a good combat system and excellent level design- I'd say it has good puzzles as well, but there's a caveat here too.
Like lots of people have said, the atmosphere is excellent, and the gameplay is balanced well so that you feel like you're struggling even when you have ways to defend yourself.
Labyrinth of the Demon King is immaculate: PlayStation 1 styled graphics, feudal Japan, utter despair and contempt.
The soundtrack is really good, and I love how the cutscenes of new dangerous beings seem to be styled like Silent Hill 4 The Room ghost cutscenes.
The story and atmosphere is immersive as all Yomi; it is easy to get lost in this world.
Also this game feels really good on controller, thought to point that out because sometimes games like this do not feel good on controller.
