Also even with this, the character writing / world building / story arcs are _fantastic_.

When I started, the English translation was a little... rough, and it was hard to grasp some cultural idioms that were used throughout the course of the game, but as time progressed and I went through multiple playthroughs, I could see the developers were continually improving not only their combat system and game mechanics but the dialogue as well.
Combat
Players who bring up Combat mostly praise it.
67 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
Being able to choose between turn-based and real-time combat is useful, while the variety of swords, sabers, spears, hidden weapons, internal arts, and movement techniques allows for considerable experimentation.
Graphics
Players who bring up Graphics mostly praise it.
24 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
I bought this game charmed by the 2D-pixel graphics and interesting combat system hinted at in the promo videos, along with an unfolding narrative that promised an intriguing story.
Characters
Players who bring up Characters mostly praise it.
14 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
While the roster is huge, the result is a "shallow ocean".
Audio
Players who bring up Audio mostly praise it.
8 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
The soundtrack complements the quieter character moments and the larger confrontations particularly well.
