To start with some positive things: The writing is funny and the music is really good.
A former on-again, off-again player of the original browser-based MMO(ish)RPG Kingdom of Loathing, I enjoyed the single player spin-off RPG West of Loathing, and found it an agreeable experience with serviceable gameplay functioning as a bedrock for the true experience of the game: the writing.
It's pretty damn polished, the art style is incredibly charming, and the comedy is great.
Also the devs are kind of a d*ck when I asked as to why the soundtrack does not have the "Speakessy/First Bar" music, which is arguably the best track I've heard in the game.
It’s quite enjoyable initially (I played through the game with a friendly spider companion that you can enable from the settings menu), but with the exception of some pretty fun weapons and offhand items, it felt like I was simply using the same strategy each time after a while.
