What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The story actually made sense, unlike the first game, and didn't require any context because anything that happened in the first game ends up being talked about in this game anyway.
Besides that, every chapter was unique and had slightly different platforming mechanics, and I enjoyed it.
There are 4 weapons: the Vorpal Knife, Pepper Grinder, Hobby Horse, and Teapot Cannon, and they are all very fun to use.
The environments themselves actually looked pretty cool, even if the textures haven't aged all that well.
That said, there's a Raz easter egg in Madness Returns too, but before we'll get to that one, i'd still like to bring up one last thing about this, the soundtrack was made by Chris Vrenna who's played with NIN and some other bands too, and it certainly adds to the atmosphere of the game a lot.
I've played DS2, DS3, and Sekiro, and found this quite fun and a challenge (early-midgame) on this difficulty.
