For example, little side quests that re completely optimal will tie back to the main story in a way that is touching and beautiful.
The combat system is solid, with the weakness/break mechanics adding a layer of strategy that keeps things interesting.
The turn-based combat is solid, with the weakness/break system an interesting addition.
The graphics are gorgeous and immersive, although I am sure I have a little nostalgia goggles by comparing it to JRPGS in 2000s.
The art and music are legitimately fantastic—the HD-2D style is gorgeous, and the soundtrack is one of the best parts of the game.
For as fantastic as the combat is and for as charming as the characters are, it suffers so, so, so much from tying itself down with its pacing, and I think a lot of this is simply the formula of eight playable characters being stretched to its absolute limit.
