Gameplay-wise, Retro City Rampage DX+ strikes the perfect balance between nostalgia and modern sensibility.
Whether I’m causing chaos in the open world, hunting for hidden items, or tackling the hilarious story missions, the pacing never lets up.
The biggest and most obvious one is the graphics, the art style, it’s perfectly managed to recreate the feeling that those classic 8-bit games had without sacrificing for quality.
Shooting and driving are intentionally straightforward, mirroring the limitations of older games, yet the sheer range of weapons, vehicles, and power-ups keeps encounters dynamic.
It’s obvious that the solo developer poured so much care into each animation, each soundtrack loop, and every dialogue bubble.
The retro 8 bit look is nice, the controls are simple, and it has full controller support.
