Captain Firehawk and the Laser Love Situation is a shoot-em-up game that pays an incredible homage to the arcade games of the 90s with a very similar and frenetic gameplay, with even a very well done visual section that recreates characters, costumes, colors and an old school anime style atmosphere that is further reinforced with a "heroic" story with plenty of funny gags and dialogues.
I have a lot of fondness for that art style, so I really wanted to enjoy this game, but unfortunately it’s the most tedious bullet hell I’ve ever played.
As a Bullet Hell, it sticks to the fundamentals to deliver solid gameplay.
The soundtrack is equally amazing with multiple audio tracks for the different levels and boss fights, with its characteristic touch, the only negative point is that the game does not include voice acting for the characters, which is understandable since it is an indie game but that would have raised the quality a lot.
