Learning about Kinito and his friends, and the story is fun too, but again, if you enjoy doing that, which I do.
This layer of realism allows the horror to seep through slowly and organically; you’re not exploring a haunted house or confronting monsters, but rather interacting with your own computer, a space that should feel secure and personal.
The visuals do an excellent job recreating a nostalgic late-'90s and early-2000s computer aesthetic, and the sound design adds a constant sense of unease without becoming overwhelming.
Combined with expressive character animation, solid 80s style ai voice acting, and surprisingly charming writing, KinitoPET manages to balance moments of genuine humour with psychological horror.
