What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
-The story was surprisingly interesting and the PDAs were a huge part of that.
What also helps a lot is a short gameplay (3 hours top) and bigger maps so you have space to move around.
-The graphics were a huge upgrade compared to Doom 1 and 2 and still look great for their age.
-The menu music alone got me excited every time I launched the game and the sound design throughout the facility was excellent.
I replayed the BFG Edition on a PS3 recently and came away with a much more positive impression, as an aside the performance on the PS3 was generally much more impressive than other FPS contemporaries of the console, usually keeping around 720p60, but there are unfortunate dips in the latter half of the game.
