I mostly enjoyed the game's progression/the implementation of the metroidvania aspects and the bright colors/design.
In a nutshell, Guacamelee is an enjoyable, colorful, metroidvania/platformer that features fun (though few) boss fights, occasional platforming and combat challenges, and a silly storyline/characters.
The game leans into the Mexican inspiration for the story/characters/setting and is generally bright and vibrant.
Graphically, there isn't too much to shout about, it's a 2d side scroller so generally nothing spectacular is going to be seen, however the art style on show is gorgeous.
A fun metroidvania beat em up, with a great setting and soundtrack.
Buttons are not redefinable, but the controller support seems very, very good, because my very old noname controller worked perfectly, while most games mirror the 4 buttons on it...
