Other characters will follow your first in the classical daisy chain, attacking with their own weapons and contributing to your attacks through additional stat bonuses to Strength, Dexterity, Vitality, Magic, Spirit and Luck.
The main gameplay really nails the feeling of walking around on the Overworld of a Snes or Nes era Final fantasy game.
ES also offers soundtrack customization of all things- different playlists of different genres are available, with more unlocking by switching them often, skipping tracks, and listening to particular playlists for certain lengths of time.
The art style you'll see in the runs are more like an old-school RPG, back in the SNES time.
Add to this an absolutely adorable styling that sees the main menu envisaged as a sort of "Nintendo Power"-esque hints and tips magazine on the very game you're playing, plus a cute little minidisk player that functions as your soundtrack choice for the run (with further unlockable minidisks available in game!), and honestly I can't recommend this enough.
I did play this one on my Steam Deck and it did run so smooth.
