What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
In addition to the high quality of the gameplay, the music, sound and speech are all equally excellent.
Luckily the Fast-forward option doesn't impact this, so the story is told just as effectively whether you're truly speed running the missions or not.
-They kept everything that was great about the original: nice visuals, fun gameplay, a score to prove you mastered the level, great voice acting, etc.
Defense Grid 2 stays close to the core gameplay of the original (perhaps too close) and, like the original, can easily become boring and repetitive despite its numerous difficulty levels and gameplay modes.
DG2 adds a some truly interesting co-op and competitive multiplayer, including modes with shared and separate scores and resource pools.
There are plenty of maps, modes, and modifiers to keep you engaged for hours and hours, and the campaign is even co-op.
