Part of the difficulty of the original was trying to learn skills, to the point that you would almost always start a campaign as a free character so you can build up your character to the point where they would be effective enough to win.
While previous installments in the series have been pretty solid from a gameplay perspective, they've also felt a bit unpolished, especially when it comes to the localization.
1) Obviously, the new 8 Remake has better graphics, modernized UI, BGM fade out when game not focused.
- Unlike the original game, it's easier to build up relationships with officers you might not have had a good rapport with as well as increase loyalty due to the ability to gift officers ad hoc items like generic Weapons, Tomes, Treasure, and Wine using gold instead of having to keep it stocked in your inventory.
The game looks great with its beautiful 2D art, smooth user interface, and an awesome soundtrack that really sets the mood.
