You have probably already heard that bumpslashing is the primary combat mechanic here - and to that effect, I can say it's pretty engaging and fun.
Again, it never really lets up until the point of no return in introducing new enemies to you, and it really helps a lot with ensuring the central dynamics of combat never get stale at all.
The game establishes some interesting plot threads at the very start, namely that the PC was called by Angels to gather artifacts stolen by Fae; if you know folklore, there's a great deal of satisfaction is seeing just how evil the fairies in this game can be.
The soundtrack (which is pretty good!) also feels appropriate to the hardware and style of composition at the time.
We are living in the time period where these graphics are cool again, like we had 10 years ago with pixel art.
