But what is great about Verdun is how squad gameplay feels natural and fluid unlike other games that use a forced squad mechanic.
Combat
Players who bring up Combat mostly praise it.
51 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
The assault squad is able to call in gas to harass the enemy, can be equipped with melee weapons (think trench clubs and shovels) and have access to advanced weaponry.
Graphics
Players who bring up Graphics mostly praise it.
27 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
It is only in the past 6 months, where the visuals have elevated the production values of the game to stratospheric heights.
Multiplayer
Players who bring up Multiplayer mostly praise it.
26 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
Overall, Verdun is a great game, if you can get past the lag and performance issues, and I believe that is mainly because it brings a fresh type of experience for an online multiplayer FPS by taking place in WWI and by taking a great and well done approach to the trench warfare since most FPS out there are pretty much taking place in a modern day setting.
Difficulty
Players who bring up Difficulty mostly praise it.
14 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
It's not a perfect multiplayer game, and the distinctive WW1 setting doesn't set it apart as much as it would like to, but the balance of difficulty means that it skirts some of that frustration awaiting new players entering an older MP game.
Co-op
Players who bring up Co-op mostly praise it.
10 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
I recommend picking it up with friends so you can enjoy the co-op mode, as there are not always many players online.
