What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The narrative is straightforward but effective, driven by camaraderie, military desperation, and an oppressive atmosphere that reinforces the sense of humanity fighting for survival.
The gameplay and shooting mechanics also still feel very much like they're from the Xbox 360/PS3 era.
Enhanced textures, improved lighting, higher resolutions, and smoother frame rates give the world of Sera a renewed sense of clarity and presence.
Multiplayer and co-op content remain central to the package, reflecting Gears of War’s legacy as a competitive and cooperative shooter.
It also runs very well, with DLSS Quality & Frame Gen, ultra settings @ 1440p, I was hitting at lowest, around 80 fps but averaging 100+, using a Ryzen 5 5600x and 4070 super.
The series has memorable characters, iconic weapons, and dark atmosphere, but unfornately Reloaded (which is a PC port of Ultimate edition) does not do the original 2006 version justice.
