The emotional story and the puzzle mechanics revolving around a past-self worked really well together throughout, and I enjoyed the mechanics changing along with the tone of the character each chapter.
One thing this game does a particularly good job of is linking its story to the gameplay - the textboxes appear dynamically throughout each level as you solve them, and the meanings of them relate to both the story as a whole as well as the current puzzle you're solving.
