In its heyday, Madballs had a really fun multiplayer with a multitude of different game modes and character classes.
Co-op was the best part here at the time with 4 player support.
The gun fights can be a lot of fun and the different weapons in the game make it interesting to fight with all the variety.
So unless you have friends to play with, I would only recommend Madballs for its solo gameplay, and I think the price tag is fair for that alone, even if the campaign is not exactly groundbreaking in any way.
It certainly was unique for the time as there were quite few mainstream games which were this creative in times when Team Fortress 2 could be considered fresh, innovating, groundbreaking with its own classes and cartoonish graphics.
The multiplayer never gets old and the game play is easy and fun.
