Unlike many language-learning tools that rely on flashcards and repetition detached from context, Wagotabi embeds vocabulary and grammar directly into gameplay.
This is very motivational - rather than treading water with quick "reviews" to keep up some arbitrary streak like in a typical language learning app, the incentive is to learn more to progress the actual story.
The game difficulty accelerated much quicker than I thought it would, and it does teach some things that normal speakers would never say.
Voice acting in Japanese further reinforces immersion, exposing learners to natural pronunciation and rhythm.
