To me they condense the key elements of games to the most fundamental components and allow a depth of gameplay (without grind) that other types of games can only dream of.
One major, welcome convenience is that weapons that drop from enemies are always empty of ammo.
It should be pointed out that although the game does not have the depth or variety of something like DCSS it is still a complex game with plenty of depth (and difficulty).
The sound design and attitude is still there from Jupiter Hell, but the engine is from the chaotic and crunchy DRL, and the graphics are pixelly and (importantly) work on my 6 year old laptop with no dGPU.
P.S. it's truly Steam Deck optimized with a great control scheme and everything.
Amazing, addictive, Awesome, kill demons with 3 different classes, and many different types of builds. having alot of fun with this.
