Just like back in the old days, this game shows why good gameplay doesn't need to be complex and why simple graphics are not an issue when you have something called replayability.

Much of the soundtrack is great with a few standout tunes.
The special item usage isn't explained very well, there is only 1 special item you can actually throw (Hammers) and it has a dedicated keybind even though every other special item in the game uses a different keybind.
Overall, Life of Pixel does have an appealing design, and I liked the menu layout where you can pick the platform and level.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 5 sampled reviews and are not shown.
