Its cel-shaded visuals aren't realistic, nor is its subtle story about ancient sea entities particularly relatable, yet through its color palette, lighting, and outstanding sound design, the game creates an astonishing sense of place.
This game is gorgeous (at first) and has a lovely soundtrack.
The gameplay loop and same fish swarms got pretty repetitive quickly and within 15 minutes it became clear that the game gives you no real agency or explanation for anything and lacks any major direction until the very end, which goes for a sudden expository dump that should have been slowly presented throughout the exploration instead.
Triggers are the only buttons on a controller that actively resist your finger, and after a while your right index finger will definitely start filing formal complaints.
I played the game on my Steam Deck OLED using a mix of Medium and High settings for a smooth 60 FPS experience.
