What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The freedom to create unconventional builds ensures that the gameplay remains fresh long after the initial excitement of the first few runs.
The music is wonderful, the graphics are simple but all you really need.
Long story short: This is one of the best indie games I have played, and that is saying a lot, as this one blew the 59 others completely out of the water (it tied with Balatro).
I played the original Genome Guardian and even the second game, Cell Command, which is a different game altogether but which shares a lot of themes with; I am currently having a lot of fun with it, working through its progression of unlocks and expanding options for runs and the soundtrack has been really good.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 3 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
