The world, writing, companions, and overall story are genuinely excellent, and it's easy to see why so many people consider it one of the greatest RPGs ever made.
The replayability is absurd.
I will relent and say that: when the game isn't intent on ending your run as soon as possible via any unreasonable means necessary: the soundtrack is great, the game tends to give you more than two options on how to approach things (even if all options end with mandatory combat resulting in a turn 1 party wipe), and the dialogue and narrator writing is well constructed when the game manages to distract you from the 2 hours of save scumming it just forced you to do.
I'm not just talking "good graphics" (though yes the graphics are great); this game bothers to add a ton of atmospheric detail that just delights the eye at every turn.
Revisiting it in co-op completely changed the experience, making it far more enjoyable and ultimately allowing me to complete the main story.
Turns out they cook, and if you have any interest in fantasy, or rpg, multiplayer, solo you should definitely give this game a try.
