You play as a ship sent across space missions which have 7-16 rounds of combat across 4 Acts, and each mission has a Normal-Hard-Difficult level (used for credit rewards and not for completion) - this structure gives the game a good amount of replayability.
the presentation is pretty bland but very functional. you don't need to build stronk weapon with lot's of damage as you can win without using weapons if you have the correct build.
It's a great blend of back pack hero with inventory management combined with fun dice mechanics and then Lonestar like combat where you shoot in columns.
Oh and soundtrack is really nice too, a kind of techno-ambient very fitting for the game setting.
