It’s amazing how many tricky situations can be invented with such simple game mechanics.
Less than one hour in, I realized I had approached it wrong: Pocket Kingdom goes above and beyond being a thought-inducing puzzle game by packing its universe with cool tunes, an interesting back-story and surprisingly deep lore.
Complementing the visuals is an upbeat chiptune soundtrack that underscores the sense of adventure, though its limited variety means the music loops often and may fatigue players during long sessions.
Blending steampunk aesthetics with detailed pixel art and an immersive chiptune soundtrack, the game serves as a heartfelt homage to classic Amiga-era titles, while also introducing modern twists that make it feel fresh and unique.
Gameplay may seem to be stiff from the beginning, but the wonderful soundtrack can keep you playing to see great puzzles with balanced difficulty (it's not easy, but also not frustrating).
