What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The game feels right in terms of playability, historical accuracy, fun, and replayability.
Better weapons can noticeably improve combat effectiveness, but there is rarely enough premium equipment to supply everyone equally.
The atmosphere is good, the limited campaign offering is nice in what it does, the game runs nicely and I really enjoyed the battles in Gettysburg, so I'm extra disappointed that this just seems crushingly difficult on its normal setting, you shouldn't have to debuff the AI side to get a normal experience.
The graphics are beautiful – best rendering of environments and battlefields I’ve ever seen.
There are some tweaks that I hope are still coming on the movement - sometimes it's hard to get a unit *exactly* where you want it - but the interface makes this game easy to pick up.
